Iu-Mien Student Conference

Iu-Mien Community Services

About Us

After the tragic passing of Brian Tha Saechao and his two year old son, Raphael, the Iu-Mien Student Conference (IMSC) Committee created the Hero Artist Scholarship in their honor and memory. While volunteering for IMSC6, Brian initially developed ideas about this scholarship. In order to honor and preserve their loving memory, we have setup this scholarship foundation.

The scholarship is targeted towards Iu-Mien high school seniors to assist with their post secondary school endeavors. The Hero Artist Scholarship Foundation recognizes everyone has different skills and talents. One of the Foundation's goals is to nurture students who have artistic talents and/or wish to grow in the field of arts. This scholarship emphasizes the student's artistic talents and interests first and foremost. However, we also consider the individual's conscience about the community. Iu-Mien high school seniors who are active in the community and possess skills in the vast, diverse arts and entertainment field are encouraged to apply.

The foundation is an entity within the Iu-Mien Student Conference, which is a program of Iu-Mien Community Services (IMCS). IMCS is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization, which was developed to preserve and promote healthy Iu-Mien families and communities in the Sacramento, CA region. The scholarship originates in Sacramento and IMSC hosts an annual student conference for middle and high students in the Sacramento region but any Mien high school senior in the United States is eligible to apply. In our inaugural year, at IMSC15 on May 29, 2013 at UC Davis, we were proud to reward three talented students with scholarships.
